Tesco has issued an urgent recall for one of its own-brand dips due to concerns about salmonella contamination.
Food safety authorities have placed a ‘do not eat’ warning on a batch of the supermarket’s Tzatziki dip.
It is feared that the yoghurt dip, priced at £1.40, may be contaminated with the bacteria.
The harmful bacteria typically cause fever, sickness, and diarrhoea, which usually resolve within a few days. However, it can sometimes be fatal.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA), which issued the warning, only steps in when food safety is at risk is reminding us that things like yogurt dips should not be making us sick.
Tesco explained that the recall of its 200g tzatziki dip was triggered after routine testing revealed salmonella contamination. However, only the batch with a best-before date of November 24, 2024, is affected.
The supermarket urged customers who bought the affected batch to avoid eating the product and return it to any Tesco store for a full refund, without the need for a receipt.
For any further inquiries, customers are advised to contact Tesco’s customer service.
No other Tesco products are involved in this issue.
