A Scottish businessman, Campbell Scott, who had been missing in Kenya for over a week, has been discovered dead in a remote forest.
Reports indicate that his remains were placed inside a sack of pineapples, with his hands tied. The grim discovery was made over the weekend approximately 66 miles southeast of Nairobi.
The 58-year-old businessman had traveled to Nairobi on February 15 for a business trip but was reported missing a day later. According to local sources, he was last seen leaving a nightclub with an unidentified man.
A murder incident report from Feb 22, obtained by The Telegraph, states that both his hands and legs had been tied with a green nylon string.
A herder discovered the body on Saturday and reported it to Francis Kanyaa, the local police chief, at just after 2.45pm.
Thomas Maitha, the local administrator and Kivani location chief, told Kenya’s The Standard newspaper: “He appeared to have been tortured.
“The body, which was in bad state, prompted us to escalate the matter further. In addition to the physical injuries, the killer(s) had tied his hands from the back, and stuffed the body in the sack, which had been packed with ripe pineapples.”
Police have arrested two suspects – a waiter and a taxi – who are believed to have been some of the last people to see him alive.
Mr Scott, from credit scoring firm Fico based in Dunfermline, Fife, had been attending a conference at the JW Marriott Hotel in Nairobi and was due to meet colleagues to discuss a presentation.
But when he failed to appear at the meeting on February 16, colleagues became concerned and contacted the local police, who later launched a joint investigation into his disappearance alongside Interpol.
Mr Scott attended school in Dunfermline and worked for a number of companies before joining Fico.
Confirming his death, a company spokeswoman said on Monday that staff were ‘devastated’ by the news.
She added: ‘Campbell was a leader in our international Scores business.
‘He joined Fico in 2014 and was instrumental in introducing Scores to new markets and growing our business with existing partnerships. We mourn his passing and will miss his humour and kindness.

‘Our thoughts are with Campbell’s family and friends. We ask that the media respect their privacy.’
A UK Foreign Office spokesperson said: ‘We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Kenya and are in contact with the local authorities.’
Mr Scott’s employer has asked people not to speculate about any issues around his death.
