According to a close friend, Mariah was aware that Alison was dying for a month before she passed away. Despite this, Mariah did not make any effort to contact her sister.
Alison and their mother, Patricia Carey, sadly passed away on the same day over the weekend. Mariah revealed the heartbreaking news in a statement on Monday.According to Mariah’s close friend David Baker, Mariah did not attempt to contact Alison again even after learning of her condition.
Mariah never called or made a video call to Alison, even though she was taken to hospice care a few weeks before to her death. “A straightforward phone conversation or video chat would have meant a lot to Alison, but it never happened,” said Baker.

Mariah’s choice to break up communication hurt Alison a great deal. Baker said that Alison used to wonder if Mariah or any of their family members would come to her burial. Nothing has been decided upon yet for the memorial service that is scheduled for a later date.
