Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s wonderful love tale comes to an end, with both calling it quits after barely two years of marriage.
Jennifer Lopez, 54, filed for divorce from Ben Affleck on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. This devastating news comes two years after their highly anticipated wedding in July 2022. The divorce papers were filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, with Lopez specifying April 26, 2024 as the date of separation.
Lopez’s decision to file for divorce was personal, as she elected to represent herself without the help of a lawyer. The couple married in a sudden Las Vegas ceremony on July 16, 2022, and held their traditional wedding in Georgia shortly after.
Unfortunately, this August 20 would have been the second anniversary of their Georgia ceremony, a milestone they will no longer share.
The breakup comes after months of rumors and allegations that the pair had been living increasingly different lifestyles. Lopez had canceled her summer tour to spend more time with her family, but the distance between her and Affleck widened.

Their shared Beverly Hills house was sold, representing the physical and emotional distance that had grown between them.
Lopez and Affleck spent much of the summer apart in the weeks before their divorce. Lopez went to the Hamptons, New York, where she spent the Fourth of July and celebrated turning 55.
Affleck, on the other hand, stayed in Los Angeles for the majority of the summer, underlining their developing gap.
Their relationship had been full with history and passion. Lopez and Affleck were previously engaged in the early 2000s, but their relationship terminated before they could marry. The two went on to live different lives, with Lopez marrying singer Marc Anthony in 2004 and having two children with him, Max and Emme (now 16).
Affleck married actress Jennifer Garner in 2005, and they have three children: Violet Anne (18), Seraphina Rose (15), and Samuel (12).
