American singer, songwriter, actor, and dancer, Chris Brown is currently facing a new lawsuit for assault.
Born with his legal name Christopher Maurice Brown, the singer have been accused by four concertgoers who claimed a lawsuit against Brown, and his associates, saying they assaulted them after a performance.
On Sunday, July 21, the plaintiffs—Larry Parker, Joseph Lewis, Charles Bush, and Da Marcus Powell—filed the complaint in Harris County, Texas. The R&B singer’s performance at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, on Friday night is said to have preceded the altercation.
They claim that they were attacked by Brown and his group, which included allies Sinko Ceej, Hood Boss, and Yella Beezy, after they were allowed backstage at Brown’s performance at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
The complaint claims that Brown and his group “surrounded the Plaintiffs, threw chairs at them, and repeatedly kicked, stomped, and beat them” as part of the violence.
The Plaintiffs suffered several blows to their heads and chests as well as being stomped on while they were on the ground as a result of the unwarranted violence. All of the plaintiffs suffered serious injuries as a result of Brown’s ruthless and violent assault.
“The violence included Brown and his entourage surrounding the Plaintiffs, throwing chairs at them, and repeatedly kicking, stomping, and beating them. The unprovoked violence included multiple strikes to the Plaintiffs’ heads and chests, and ultimately involved stomping them while they were down. The brutal, violent assault participated in and directed by Brown, severely injured all Plaintiffs.” the complaint states.
According to their attorney, this is Texas, and no matter how significant or well-known you may feel, you still have a duty to abide by the law and behave properly with these people. Violence without cause cannot and will not be accepted.
“This is Texas. The people here don’t care how important or famous you think you are, you have an obligation to follow the laws and conduct yourself in an appropriate way. Unprovoked violence can’t and won’t be tolerated. We intend to seek all damages that the law allows against Brown and his cohorts, to include punitive damages.” Anthony Buzbee said in a statement on Tuesday.
In addition to “pecuniary losses, pain and suffering, disfigurement, mental anguish, and past, present, and future medical expenses,” the plaintiffs are requesting compensatory and punitive damages totaling more than $50 million.
The lawsuit also accuses Live Nation of sustaining its partnership with Brown in spite of his aggressive and poor behavior, which includes the 2009 attack on his girlfriend Rihanna, for which Brown agreed to a plea agreement that included community service, probation, and therapy.
The lawsuit cites numerous more alleged occurrences involving Brown, emphasizing a pattern of conduct that the plaintiffs contend should have barred him from receiving professional support going forward.
The most recent court case follows a long history of allegations of domestic abuse throughout his career.
These include his notorious 2009 attack on singer and then-girlfriend Rihanna on Grammy Awards night and the restraining order that model and ex-girlfriend Karreuche Tran obtained in 2017 after she said the singer had threatened to kill her.
