Rapper Cardi B is currently seeking primary custody of her children with rapper Offset, including a baby on the way, according to court filings in their divorce.
The Grammy-winning hip-hop artist is also looking for child support from Offset, who is recognized for his successful solo career and involvement in the trap group Migos.
Cardi B’s requests were detailed in divorce paperwork obtained Friday, a day after they were filed in New Jersey Superior Court in Bergen County.
Cardi B, 31, and Offset, 32, have two children together: Kulture, 6, and Wave, 2 years old. She announced on Thursday that she is pregnant with their third child via Instagram post. The records say that Offset is the father.
According to the lawsuit, Cardi B and Offset, born Belcalis Almanzar and Kiari Cephus, have had “irreconcilable differences” for the past six months. There is no realistic chance of reconciliation between the parties.
A spokesman for Cardi B told The Associated Press on Thursday: “This is not based on any single incident; it has been a long time coming and is amicable.”
The hip-hop power couple secretly married on September 20, 2017, in Atlanta. They only announced their engagement one month later.
Cardi B, who was raised in the South Bronx, rose to prominence as a cast member on VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop: New York” before launching a thriving rap career with her Grammy-winning debut album, “Invasion of Privacy,” and its unstoppable No. 1 singles “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It,” featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin.
Her fame has only expanded in the years since, with more No. 1 songs including her collaboration with Maroon 5 on 2018’s “Girls Like You,” 2020’s “WAP” with Megan The Stallion, and 2021’s “Up.”
The details in court papers were initially revealed on Friday by celebrity website TMZ.
Cardi B filed for divorce from Offset in Georgia in 2020, stating that their marriage was “irretrievably broken.” She later withdrew her filing.
