In an attempt to find Ronald Lee Syrvud, a 66-year-old man who allegedly threatened to shoot former President Donald Trump on a visit to the southern border, authorities in Arizona have launched a massive manhunt. A sensitive location in Cochise County, Arizona, close to Sierra Vista, was the target of this excursion.
This incident follows an earlier assassination attempt just six weeks ago, where a bullet grazed Trump’s ear during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Syrvud is a wanted man for several other crimes, including driving under the influence (DUI), failing to appear in court, not registering as a sex offender, and a felony hit-and-run. His last known address was in Benson, Arizona.
Authorities think Syrvud is still in the border region, which is notorious for its hazardous topography and security issues. The area’s hilly terrain, which provides cover for illicit activity, has earned it the moniker “smuggler’s paradise.”
Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, visited Sierra Vista just three weeks ago to discuss these very security concerns. During his visit, Vance criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for her handling of border security, calling her a “failed Border Czar” and blaming her for the ongoing migrant crisis.

As of now, it is unclear whether Trump’s planned visit to the border will be canceled or postponed due to this threat. The Trump campaign has been contacted for comment but has not yet responded.
Officials in Arizona are working quickly to find Syrvud before Trump’s planned visit, since the situation is unfolding.
