Police in Wolverhampton are searching for a man with “red eyes” after he allegedly tried to kidnap a three-year-old girl. The incident has led to an urgent investigation by West Midlands Police.
The attempt happened on Thursday evening on Leicester Street. The little girl was outside a house with an older family member when the man tried to take her. Thankfully, her mother stepped in and stopped him.
The suspect is believed to be in his 20s or 30s and described as being of mixed race, approximately 5ft 9ins tall, with short curly dark hair, facial hair, and brown eyes that reportedly appeared reddened.
Detective Inspector Nicola Pestel of Wolverhampton CID said:
“We understand that this will be a shock for people, and our investigation to trace and detain the person involved is moving at pace. We ask everyone in the area to support us by coming forward with any information they may have. Please check doorbell cameras or dashcams for any footage that may assist our inquiries.”

The man was last seen heading in the direction of Harrow Street after the mother stopped him. Fortunately, the child was not injured, and the police are offering support to her and her family.
Police continue to ask the public for any relevant information or footage to help identify and locate the suspect.
