Olivia Nuzzi of New York Magazine has been placed on leave following an alleged personal involvement with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a major figure she covered in her political reporting.
This relationship allegedly began when Nuzzi profiled Kennedy in November 2023, when he was standing as a third-party candidate in the 2024 presidential election.
This scenario came to light when Nuzzi revealed the relationship to the magazine’s administration, resulting in an internal investigation and her subsequent dismissal.
The magazine stated that this arrangement breached its ethical principles regarding conflicts of interest and disclosures. They added that had they known about the relationship sooner, Nuzzi would not have been allowed to continue reporting the campaign.
Although no bias or inaccuracies were found in her work, New York Magazine is conducting a more thorough third-party review to ensure journalistic integrity.
